Setting up a lathe with gearbox.

I am doing a lathe conversion using a servo motor to drive the spindle through the gearbox .I have a 1000 pulse encoder on the spindle measuring rpm .

Doe the system allow feedback via the spindle speed control setup so that if I enter S1000 then it will adjust the output voltage to the servo to obtain the desired rpm regardless of what gear is selected manually .

Or do I manually enter each ratio in the pulley section and then use the P215x function

Well, the controller does not know what gear you selected manually, you must tell the controller.
So, yes, you have to select the pulley in UCCNC.
