AXBB-E firmware update

Postby iOne » Tue Mar 25, 2025 9:02 pm

Hi CNCDrive,

Quick question, I am currently testing the version 1.2118 and every time that I switch from the 1.2115 version that I normally use, the AXBB-E requires a firmware update in both directions. Is there a risk that I can brick or damage the board constantly updating the firmware meanwhile I test the new versions? Is there a "recovery mode" if the firmware update is not successful?

Yes, the firmware update happens automatically when nessessary.
1.2118 contains different firmware for the AXBB-E as version 1.2115.

Firmware update writes the flash memory of the microcontroller in the AXBB-E.
If a firmware update fails the AXBB-E remains in the bootloader and waiting for new firmware and when you start the UCCNC the next time then it will download the firmware again.
This happens until the firmware gets fixed.

The firmware can't be fixed if the flash memory of the microcontroller breaks and so if some cells cannot be written anymore, this can happen after over 100 000 write cycles.

Thank you for clarifying. Enough cycles for me to have a little more play then.
