New USB drivers for UC100

Postby cncdrive » Tue Mar 04, 2025 4:14 pm

We released a new USB drivers for the UC100 USB motion controllers.
This was done because many customers had problems on Windows 10 and 11. that the Core Isolation had to be disabled for the old drivers to install.
The reason for this is that the old drivers were signed with SHA1 signature, but since 2019 only SHA2 is fully trusted by Microsoft.
So, we re-certified the USB drivers with Microsoft, so they are now SHA2 signed and WHQL certified and so they install on Windows 10 and 11 even with core isolation enabled.

I am having a similar issue that this may be the fix for but I am unable to get it to work. I have been running a uc100 with mach 3 on a windows 10 laptop for quite sometime now at work and a seperate but similar setup at home. A couple weeks ago I tryed to use the plasma cutter at work and I got a bunch of .dll file errors and it all linked back to the drivers (I assume). I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers for the uc100 with no correction. So I was going to bring my home laptop in and run the plasma with it and I opened mach 3 and I have the exact same errors on this laptop now. I would appreciate some guidance to correct the issue. I run a plasma at work and a small router at home. Thanks

I don't know what do you mean by "got a bunch of .dll file errors", but if you have the old USB drivers installed and want to install the new one then the best method is to disconnect the computer from the internet.
Then open the Windows Device manager, find the UC100 in the USB devices section and then right clikc and select uninstall drivers and check the "Delete drive files" checkbox.
Then run the uninstall.
Then select the install drivers and select install from specific folder and then browse to the unZIP-ed new driver files folder on your computer.
Then unplug the UC100 and re-plug the UC100 and check the UC100 in the Windows device manager.

never had an issue with the UC100 on Win10 or Win11 specifically in respect to operating systems or drivers, however, thank you CNCDRIVE for all your efforts with UCCNC.

I will say this though, the UC100 sucks in respect to USB port reliability! So much movement and vibration on CNC machines, the usb ports themselves fail too often (I went through 4 of them before I had enough). You're better off replacing it with a UC300ETH or other controller that does not use these USB connections.

I've had no issues with UCCNC since disabling the Core Isolation, but prefer (I think) to have it enabled rather than not - just in case.

I appreciate the work the team has done in getting to this point, but is it worth me installing the USB update, if UCCNC is working as it should?

If I do (thanks for the steps, @cncdrive) should I then reverse the Core Isolation settings?

Thank you

Both drivers work the same, the main difference is that the new drivers are signed with newer signature from Microsoft, so Windows trusts the signature while it does not trust it anymore for the old one.
This does not make any difference other than you can enable the Core isolation with the new one.
Some companies policy to have Core Isolation enabled because it gives some protection against viruses getting into the core code of Windows.

Your error messages have nothing to do with the USB drivers of the UC100.
You receiving these messages because you forgot to enable the .net framework 3.5 in the Windows features.
