Hi Tweakie, how is the best way to search for good photography that is high contrast. Are there some website ore some search words that make it easy to find good contrast photos??
I also search on Shutterstock but I need a search name ore idea that give that good results.

Just keep experimenting. You could try using that same image (without any processing) and Grayscale (Laser Mode 1).

Yes I can try out higher DPI I now made it 318 DPI and I want to try 600dpi and lay them next to each other to see differens

With tiles you don't need to use black paint - any colour paint is carbonized to black in the process so rattle-can white primer / undercoat works just fine.

White tile paint black does not work.
It does not burn into the tile and I have my laser on 100% power.
So I go and try out white tile paint white Matt .

Hi Andre99,

If it’s any help, I never get involved with d.p.i – I just download my photo or image (in the highest resolution I can) then (consistent with the UCCNC allowance) load it into the UCCNC Laser Engraving Plugin, select Grayscale (Laser mode 1), select the desired size and Y scan distance. Do a partial trial run to set my correct laser power level then go for it.

You don’t really need to see more of my work but I have attached my cardboard lasered cat image just for reference.

What is the wavelength of the laser you are using ?

That's looking mutch better then my 2 ones on cardboard.
I have a Opt lasers 6 watt and I have a Uspot lens on it.
I really want to learn how I can get better and photos sharper.
My first two design of the day are size 10cm by 7 cm.
I hope you want to learn get me better in lasering.

That will come from practice, trying different settings, speeds, etc.

Can you explain the Y scan distance????


The Y axis ‘stepover’ is the vertical distance between horizontal scans.
When focussed, I can achieve a laser spot size smaller than 0.1mm so a 0.2mm Y axis stepover will show the horizontal lines in the finished work. This can be avoided by either de-focussing the beam slightly or reducing the stepover to 0.1mm. In practice and to reduce the overall processing time, a slight de-focus together with 0.15mm stepover seems to produce the best results for my setup.
Basically, start at a Y axis stepover of 0.2mm then if you can see the horizontal lines reduce the stepover, in small increments, until the lines are not easily visable.



Diode lasers (because of their method of manufacture) do not produce a perfectly round spot so rotating the whole laser body until the longest axis of the dot is at 45 deg. to the horizontal may produce better overall results for both the X and Y planes.

A diode laser of 450nm wavelength may not react with the clear coloured glaze on ceramic tiles. You need to test this.
