AXXBB-E motion controller VFD setup in Mach3

Postby Paul » Mon Feb 08, 2021 8:24 am

G'day Guys, Newbie here! I am just setting up a multi head rotary cnc i've built, have all axis working fine. My question is how do I configure Mach3 for the analog out to run the VFD, I have pulled the jumper for 10V and I understand the wiring, just not sure how to configure Mach3 to give me 10v out on A01, cheers Paul

On the AXBB-E plugin page in MAch3 you can attach the analog output channel to the spindle PWM.
So, you setup the spindle as PWM spindle in MAch3, do the settings you need and attach the analog output to the spindle PWM on the AXBB-E plugin page, there is a setting for this in our plugin.

Thanks for your reply, i’ve never setup a vfd in Mach3 before, so not sure what setting i require? Do you have any screen shots of the settings on the plugin page? Also do i have to select pin outs in Ports & Pins Outputs, and if so what do i select? I take it the goal is to achieve 10v out with a multimeter across 5V0 & A01 when an M code is entered. I can't do a printscreen now, sorry.
The only setting in the AXBB-E plugin page you have to do is select the analog channel 1. in the "Attach spindle PWM to analog channel" setting.
All the other settings you do in Mach3 the same way as if you would use a LPT port or a digital pin on the motion controller.
It does not matter what port/pin you setup in the MAch3 spindle settings for the PWM, because you will not get and not need a digital PWM signal.
But you setup the spindle the same way as if you would need a PWM, but instead of a PWM you will get an analog 0-10V.
The analog signal will be proprtional to what the PWM duty cycle would be if you would get a PWM signal.
For example if you would get a 50% PWM then the analog signal will be 5Volts. If you would get a 100% PWM then the analog signal will be 10 Volts etc.

And you can't control the spindle PWM with M code, you use the S code for that, for example S12000 should give you a 12000 spindle RPM, if your spindle settings are correct and fit to your VFD settings.

Ok so i have 5v with 24000rpm input, the jumper is pulled so i should get 10v? Where do i find the plugins page to change it to 100%? The only page i can find is the “In/Out monitor!

The jumper is labeled wrong: put back the jumper and you'll get 10V.

Just tried that, was still 5v? Does anyone know where to find the Plugins Page?

Either Config > Plugins, or Plugin Control in the menu bar
