Is your Estop 5V, or 24V?
This board will be 24V, so may be more immune to noise than the C62.
I may have some 24V solenoids in my garage. If I do, I'll hook one up to my MB2 and see if there are any issues.

I've heard from several people that were having issues with the M44-C62, and were interested in switching to the MB2 that I have now.

I was told:
Hi Rob,

Cost will be higher than MB2, that is because of size and number of
component.
It will be released to market around 1 mouth, if first prototype pass
the test.

I saw Gerry posted an information of UB1 on CNCZone. Please subscribe to
that thread. That will be a center point to follow up.

Thanks,

Weerasak

Board appears to be:
155mm(L) x 130mm(W)
with hole centres at 145mm (L) x 120mm(W) .... in case you're making a new backplate.... and want to put the holes in it now....

Note, seems to be called a "UB1"

Here's the thread, if anyone is interested.

The Estops varied according to the board. I was also running 12v solenoids. Mostly what I'm getting at is pneumatic solenoids seem to generate the most amount of noise of all the things I hang off of my machines. So they are a pretty good test for how robust a BOB may be. And it's usually when they release that causes the problems.

Hi Derek,

How are you driving the solenoid? I mean is there a transistor/Fet output on the BOB?
I'm asking because if it has a transistor output then you may want to place a freewheeling diode in parallel with the coil. Like on this picture: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-j0AB06KkVug/T ... driver.png
The diode can supress the back-emf generated by the coil.

Also you may try to place a small ceramic capacitor between the coil ends to further supress the noise generated by the coil.

And you are right that solenoids and also powerful mechanical relays generate lots of noise.

Prototype boards and message from the developer.

I received 20 pieces of prototype PCB back from the manufacturer 2 days ago. Today, I’ve managed to have my first UB1 prototype. I spent almost a whole day to setup my PNP (pick n place) machine and made a board as shown in the attached pictures.

Next few days I will test UB1 board and hope that I wouldn’t find any mistake. The following is the areas I want to test.

Noise generating and immunity.
Heat dissipation
Current consumption on DC2DC converter.
Functional in various circuits.

Gerry,

Thanks for the update + keeping us posted.

Think I may order one to tidy up my setup (less cables + remote bits) when avail

If they do some testing with solenoids like we've been discussing I'm in for one.

Is this an ETH board only or will the USB work as well?
