Home Switches Position

Postby delta21@gmail.com » Sun Jan 12, 2020 5:43 pm

Hi
My question is: Seen from standing in front of the machine:
My limit switch for homing on X is left.
My limit switch for homing on Y is in the back.

Seems like UCCNC thinks its opposite. Where can I change this?

Its not straight forward, if I change any setting in the Axis pin dir setting, the software will inverse the machine direction. So if the cutter goes left, the toolpath viewer will show the cutter going the opposite compared to real movement of the machine.

Please help / I have tried everything and don't find the solution.

From your other post, I gather this is a machine with a moving table?

Are the switches in the + or - directions?

Hi
So that is a good question.

I don't know. Its weird. Now that you asked I checked and realized:

The aluminum Motor mount on Y has all axis carved in. It shows;
Z plus up/minus down.
Y plus moving towards me/minus away from me.
X plus to the right/minus to the left.

The aluminum Motor mount on the X axis shows reversed plus and minus. Guess the alu block has been mounted the wrong way.

Does this help to understand what is wrong?

This is right if you think of it in context of a tool moving through material.

As the table moves "towards" you in Y, the tool is advancing up the Y axis in its cut.

Agree. When I load a cutting program all works good.
However, The issue is that when I want to do homing the x and y axes
Think the sensors on the other side.
So when homing to x the table should go to my right. But it does go to my left.
How do I correct that?

Check or uncheck the "Direction Positive" checkbox by the Home switch port and pin settings.

I did that,.. and you are right. If I uncheck or check the box the
the homing goes the right way.

The problem is what happen then!

Unchecking/checking direction positive and leaving it the way homing works
will inverse the software movement.

This means that when the actual machine table on X moves to the right
the CUTTER in the UCCNC toolplath visualization should move to the left.
But it doesent. It will also move to the right.

So every time I do homing I have go to the axis tab, check the box, go back, do
the homing, go back to axis tab, uncheck and go back to run.

What is wrong?

Changing that setting should ONLY be changing the homing direction, and should not affect anything else.
