Recommend a BOB for the UC400ETH

Postby 1JUMPER10 » Tue Jun 25, 2019 8:36 pm

Hi. I'm upgrading a 3 axis CNC router. It uses the UC400ETH for a motion controller but just a generic BOB without any features. I have another 3 axis router that uses the UC300ETH with the UB1 and I'm very happy with that. Something similar would be ideal. The UC400 interfaces with 2 parallel ports. I have an MB2 (forerunner to the better UB1) on hand am considering using it but CNCroom.com is discontinuing it. Open to suggestions. Need something rugged and reliable.

Both dual port boards that CNC drive sells specifically state they're not compatible with the UC400ETH. For the record, I looked there first. I like CNCDriv's software and a compatible BOB for their motion controllers was my first choice but, unfortunately the UC400 seems like a bit of a red-headed-step-child. Next best thing I could do was pose the question here...

PMDX-126, or something from CNC4PC? Or this one? http://www.cnc4youstore.com/cnc-mach3-m ... m-106.html

If you are going to spend $150 or more, consider selling the UC400ETH and get an AXBB-E?

Thanks Gerry. AxBB-e looked interesting and a good value. But if I'm going that route might as well get another UB1. Selling the UC400 ETH might be a good option.

UCSB and HDBB2 are compatible with the UC400. They are both single port, and you can combine them to fit your needs.

Yeah, it really depends on what features you need. DO you need speed control? Relays? Charge pump?

Yes I need speed control (0-10V), and charge pump but I can add on a relay board easy enough. Optimum board feature's wise is the UB1/UC300ETH combo; 24V, totally isolated inputs/outputs charge pump, relays, Analog IO for speed control. Trying to be efficient and use the UC400 though first. I think I'm going to try it with the MB2 that I have on hand though its a repair and untested. I'm pretty sure its compatible with the UC400...
