UCC will not run on WIN7 computer

Postby mrprecise » Fri Aug 04, 2017 9:28 pm

Greetings from USA.

I have run the older version of UCCNC on my Win7 computer for about a year. I upgraded to the newer version 1.2037, but it would not run on the Win7 computer, so I tried to install it on my older XP computer. It installed without a problem, and ran like fine.

I had another Win7 computer, and thought perhaps the other Win7 computer that it would not install on had some kind of drive issue.

Anyhow, I installed the UCCNC, version 1.2037, and it installed fine. I ran it in demo mode, as I had not moved the license file yet, and it seemed to run some of the sample programs ok. However, it was not yet plugged into the UC3005lpt board yet, or had the license file installed yet.

I then installed the license file, and it recognized the license, and installed properly, with NO demo warning showing on the top of the run page.

As soon as I tried to activate any of the pages, it crashed, locked up the screen.

This is the very same behavior that happened with the first Win7 install.

The XP computer worked flawlessly from the start, and never gave any problems.

What might be the problem?

Thanks,
John

The question is which was the older version you upgraded from?
If it was version 1.0xxx or 1.1xxx then there is a big difference to 1.2037, the difference is that those mentioned earlier versions had a Flashplayer based GUI, while version 1.2xxx runs on OpenGL.

I advice you to try to update your video card drivers, because it sounds like an OpenGL issue.

And the UCCNC should run fine on Win7, there is no problem with Windows 7 compatibility, we especially running all of our production machines on Windows 7.

Thanks for that explanation.

The graphic issue may be the problem. My older uccnc was ver. 1.1027

The XP computer is an Intel Atom, cpu D525, 1.8 GHz, and the graphics is: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3150, 256 Mb video memory. This is a small desktop case. Bother ucc ver. 1.1027 and ver. 1.2037 run fine on this computer.

The Win7 computer is a newer mini-computer that mounts on the back of the monitor, but is an Intel Atom cpu D2550, 1.86 GHz. The graphics is listed as: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3600 Series.

I have no idea what the inner workings of the 3600 Series means.

The Win7 computer is a small single board type.

I will learn more about changing the graphics driver, or if this is even possible.

Regards,
John

John,

If I am reading this right, the W7 machine is the problem one....
It uses the Atom D2550 processor
Specs are here: http://ark.intel.com/products/65470/Int ... e-1_86-GHz
Bit more data here: https://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/p ... matrix.pdf

Looking at the specs it supports OpenGL 3.0

I would check that you are using the latest graphics drivers for the Atom, which I think are available here: (think, note, up to you to check).
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/produc ... -1-86-GHz-
Just check if the OS is 32bit installed or 64bit installed.

As the atom has an integril graphics adapter (I've been through this with the new sigle board fanless PC I'm intending to use and integrate into my driver case [Intel N3150]
