support full closed loop system?

Hi

Will uccnc plan to support closed-loop using linear scale in the future?

thank you.

We have layed out a controller which will support upto 6-axis and has incremental encoder feedback to the motion controller and has built in PID controllers and outputs analog +-10Volts to control analog servos.
I can't tell you when this controller will be finished though, currently we doing the FPGA code development on this board and are in the beginning of the process, so it would be hard to give any ETA yet.

Can I just ask would not a linear encoder need a table with zero backlash otherwise the motors would always be trying to compensate for table backlash during cutting I know that my linear scales flit about abit on heavy cuts in steel but i did always wonder if it was possible to have actual position feed back

Thanks Andrew

Hi Brendon,

Yes, I know your feelings. :D
But you probably have that Galil controller from laying around or from second hand or something,
if you had to buy it new then you would probably become not that happy after seeing the price tag.

I've attached 2 pictures of the analog controller prototype layout.
Zoomed on the bottom layer of the Microcontroller and FPGA controller section just to let you guys see the complexity of this thing.

So, at the moment I can't give an ETA when will we finish developing this, we developing the FPGA code currently and it is time consuming.

Yes. Luckily I have them on the shelf- as backup for my other machines and previous customers.
While they are very good motion controllers- they are extremely expensive.
Also their manuals are not written for the garage tinkerer. - always makes my head hurt trying to get them to do what I want .

hello

Any news on closed loop controller.
linear encoders and stuff like this is got more accessible and cheaper, so it would be really nice to have closed loop controller.

This project is on the backburner unfortunately. It is too complex and we thought it would take too much time to finish it, so we prioritize other smaller projects.
Also we started making a step/dir to analog converter, that is also a closed loop controller, but that is also not finished yet. :(

But maybe, it is better idea to colaborate with someone who has controller, and make uccnc software compatible with it.
Like cs-labs controller.

Maybe you should look at these controllers? http://www.after-cnc.cn/a/chanpinzhongx ... i3/33.html
I use Google Translator.
