issue with uccnc locking up

Postby Limitless Creations » Sun Oct 25, 2020 8:47 pm

Im having an issue with UCCNC locking up sometimes on my cnc plasma table. I have taken a video that shows when it locks up. I have to click the torch on off button to get it to move. please help me as this is driving me nuts, I cannot walk away from the machine at all.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=s ... pp=desktop

here is a copy of my post processor

--************************************************
--*** Set these values up to suit your machine ***
--************************************************

--this is the distance between each torch reference in MILLIMETRES
refDistance = 0

--this is the reference feed rate in mm/min
refFeed = 2540

--Put your switch offset value here in MILLIMETRES
switchOffset = 6.54

--Scriber X,Y,Z offsets in MILLIMETRES. Do not use inches here even if you want inch code
--Use the special code 'nil' on the Z axis to disable it.
--In that case no Z values will be output at all while scribing.
--e.g scriberZ = nil
scriberX = 110
scriberY = 220
scriberZ = 0

--scriber axis. Leave this as nil if the scriber is fixed to the same axis as the torch
--scriberAxis = "A"
scriberAxis = nil

--If this value is set to true then use G28 (home) for the Z reference
--Set it to false for G31 probe
refHome = true

--The cutter will slow down for corners and turn off THC below this radius
slowRadius = 10

--Minimum slow down speed.
--This is a scale factor. For instance 0.5 = 50% of the current feed rate
slowPercent = 0.4

--THC on and off codes. Use nil if you don't want THC control e.g:
-- thcOnCode = m205
-- thcOffCode = m206

--here is another example that use M667 and M666
--thcOnCode = " M205"
--thcOffCode = " M206"

thcOnCode = M205
thcOffCode = M206

what CNCdrive motion controller device are you using?
uc100
uc300eth
uc400eth
axbbe?

what plasma cutter

could it be electrical noise induced by the plasma cutter?

UC100

its too consistent to be noise from the plasma.

its an Everlast 60s

I think it will be noise or a ground loop issue (YMMV).

the UC100 is USB and USB+plasma I don't think always like each other, again YMMV

https://www.everlastgenerators.com/site ... 202013.pdf

Your plasma cutter looks like it uses blowback start (which is great), but I presume that the pilot-arc setting is on "normal" and not enabled..... given this will probably not help your USB communications....

I have never tried it, but you may benefit from adding a USB filter device which the audio specialists use to allow for noise immunity with USB communications (it may work.... it may not.....) but for the sake of £36 I'd give it a go....

https://wiki.ezvid.com/best-usb-filters

https://shop.pimoroni.com/products/adaf ... n=shopping

Ethernet tends to be the recommended route for plasma given it has better noise immunity.
