M205/206 and arc on signal

Postby ErikMc » Wed Jun 19, 2019 9:51 am

When I make a rule in sheetcam that turns of the thc it does it before the m03. I guess that’s normal. Now in uccnc when that happens it ignores the arc on signal. Is that normally how CNC software deals with gcode? Should I use of m211 (anti down) instead of the m206 (disable thc). Will the m211 work with a stand alone THC?

UCCNC only takes notice of Arc OK signal if THC is enabled. Mach3 was the same.

M206 and M211 are very different. Have you read and understood the documentation about M211 ?

M206 turns off THC control completely so UCCNC ignores any up OR down signals. M211 only disables torch down movement but still allows up movement. Why would you want to use that instead.

It's interesting about what you said about where Sheetcam places the M206 command. You said it places it BEFORE M03. I have the opposite experience, and Sheetcam puts any M205/M206 command after M03 and after piercing. What path rule were you using and what post processor.

I use a hypertherm sensor PHC hight controler with is stand alone. I only need three signals to make it work. Cycle start, arc ok, auto disable/corner hold. I have read the uccnc Manuel and I’m unsure. Would I be better off haveing a code snippet in sheetcam that triggers an output on the UB1 board to do this?
