Z issues with G02

Postby samedwards_22 » Sat Jun 28, 2025 7:37 am

Hello,

I'm having an issue with the z feed when using G02. It's a bit awkward to explain, but rather than the z descending at my programmed plunge angle, it feeds at a much shallower angle for a large portion of the circumference. This leaves a stepped z profile (like a spiral) as there is no final cut at the min z.

This only seems to happen using G02, for both internal and external profiles. Other shapes seem fine which leads me to believe it has something to do with G02, almost like it divides the z movement up over the whole G02 movement.

I'm using 1.2115 on my machine and don't get this when I run it on a 2.117 sim. ESTL for programming. Snip of code below for a recent chamfering operation.

Any help appreciated, I've got around it by having a 90 degree plunge angle but it's not ideal.

Thanks,
Sam
