FRO bug?

FRO bug?

Postby ger21 » Sun May 07, 2017 1:15 pm

While I don't have a machine running, I was testing a Leadshine AM882 stepper drive, and ran into what appears to be a bug with FRO. But it only occurs with the SimpleSpiral.tap file included with UCCNC.
I made a video to show it.
After I started typing, I went out to test again, and I think I found the issue.

The feedrate in the g-code is 800.
My X axis velocity was set to 750, but my Y axis was set to 2000.
When the FRO increases the feedrate a bit over the 750, is when the issue occurs. ANd the higher the FRO, the worse it gets.

I changed my X axis velocity to 1500, and the problem went away until the FRO was close to 200%.

So the issue is the the FRO is allowing the axis to go too fast, or get out of sync? Not sure how to descrive what's happening.
Here's the video:

I'm running the 1.2037 Test version. Is the new release version the same, or should I download and install that one?

The video gets stuck and never starts, just show the first page. Seems like you have your own server but too slow connection... don't know if this is the case, but it certainly behaves that way.

It gets stuck for me too, but if you move the slider forward a little, it should start playing just fine.
Or, right click on the link, and download it.

I have downloaded your video, it took about an hour to download, but I could watch it finally.
And I've tried to reproduce the issue using the velocity settings on the XY which you said and with the mentioned test file and the issue happens in my system also.
We will start investigating this issue tomorrow to see why is it happening.

Next time I'll make it smaller. :)

I'm going to delete it, now that you have it.

Hi Gerry,

Yes, next time we don't need a 4k full HD video. :)

And we've managed to debug the issue and we see what is causing it and my collegue is working on the correction.
The interesting thing is that this issue was in the software for a really long time, but nobody ever explored it.

If I was actually running a machine, I doubt that I would have found it.
It was only because I was testing a single motor that the velocities were so different.

This issue was now resolved and will be OK in the next release.
