Mach4 I/O settings does not get saved

Make sure to run the UCx00 automatic installer with internet on the computer to get the latest plugin. Then the installer downloads the latest plugin from our website and installs that.

Have run into a bit of a disaster today.

My old PC that I had running nicely with Mach4 ver4612 and UC300eth ver 1.004 crashed. I then loaded MAch4 on my spare laptop and decided to use the auto installer to also get rid of settings loss as described. It installed plugin version 1.006 (The installer app shows it is installing ver 1.004 but Mach4 plugin diag. shows it as 1.006 ??) and as soon as I ran Mach4 and it updated the UC300eth firmware, I got the old communications error again !!

I then tried to install the manual method and it installed ver 1.001. Definitely doesn't work as signals hang intermittently.

I luckily took photos of my working installation before it crashed and it was working fine with ver 1.004

Neither version 1.006 or 1.001 work on Mach4 and I cant find ver1.004 on website. Can you kindly assist ?

The automatic installer app shows the 1.004 as the packed plugin version which means that that plugin is packaged into the installer.
If you will run the installer without internet connection then the installer will install that version.
But if you have internet connected then the installer checks our website for newer plugin and then it downloads that from our website.

Ok, I have a new "old" windows 7 PC working and the only issue is the loss of plugin IO settings. I now (kinda) understand why the auto installer installs ver 1.004 and have bought a wifi dongle to link up my Mach4 pc to my internet router. BUt I am a bit nervous that the new plugin will introduce new problems. So I guess my question is, if something goes wrong, can I re-install version 1.004 again ? Is there a file repository where we can source older versions ?

Apparently Artsoft don't know UCNC hardware exists !
I contacted them regards the losing input output fields issue and they carefully explained it to me as follows;

" Hello,
You have a motion controller.
We make software.

Your motion controller company said "Hey we could sell more controllers if ours worked with MACH4"
THEY made a motion controller plugin file so that it works with MACH4
We updated our software at some point after they made the plugin.
The plugin THEY made, is now broken because it's meant for an older version of MACH4.

If you're losing your configuration it's because the plugin version, and version of MACH aren't compatible."

So I guess UCNC are advertising UC300ETH is compatible to MACH but not staying up to date with Mach updates as ESS and other hardware suppliers are.

We are on our own on this mess.

You have a motion controller.
We make software.

Which is why most of us walked way from Artsoft. When their software doesn't work, it's somebody else's fault. And every time they make a change, it breaks what was working.

Check which Mach4 plugin version you running in the plugins menu in mach3, for the UC300ETH it should be 1.006 , the older plugin versions have this saving issue with the newest Mach4 versions. And this is because of what Gerry described, because Artsoft chages things without notifying the plugin developers, so things break and then we need time to explore and fix.
