Slow feed from Fanuc Post processor

Postby Arne9999 » Mon Sep 23, 2024 12:44 pm

I ihave just got my cnc lathe to work! Im using Fanuc post processor in fusion 360 and it seams to work ok but it feeds with the same feedrate in between cuts which makes it really slow.

I have investigated how to mod the code but it feels a bit tricky. Isnt there any way to change transport speed ?

for examle I faced a big surface yesterday with a feed of 150mm/min. after the cut it traveled back to the start for the next cut at 150mm/min. It would be really nice if this transport was at like 1000 istead before the lead in

Sounds like you are using the free version of fusion without rapids.

Yeah, that's my guess too. I saw somebody complaining about that while also complaining that the free Mach version could only do so many lines of code.

Yikes.

Yes that was the case... cant really motivate a payed version of Fusion. But since it is possible to modify the postprocessor I guess there is alternative postprocessors "out there"??

But is there any other way to fix this?

I really like Fusion and Im thinking of doing a script that changes the Gcode to rapid moves but to do this in a solid 100% secure way is a bit tricky

You can look into https://github.com/TimPaterson/Fusion360-Batch-Post This plugin restores tool changes as well as rapids. Just be aware you will need to set and post processor settings in the actual post itself it does not display or read the settings from the fusion ui
