toolpath view question

Postby Battwell » Sun May 21, 2017 10:04 am

re the main tool path view.
im about to convert another biesse machining centre- this time to uccnc.
on these machines- the y0 point is rear left- not front left.
previously ive used mach 3 for these machines- the toolpath shown is always upside down
is there a way in uccnc that this can be flipped?

I think that you're going about it the wrong way.
What are you using for your CAM software.

Configure the machine that your Y Home is at the back left, but the home position is at Y max (1200mm?)
Then, in your CAM program, make your stock size whatever the table travel is, with the top (back) of the stock at 1200mm.

In Vectric software, you can use the stock origin offset, so regardless of your stock size, the back left corner would always be at 1200mm.

I do something similar when I occasionally use Aspire with our Morbidelli, which uses a similar setup (Italians ????)

The machines can be a pain if not working from the rear pop ups. Bed y is only970mm but less for borin configure due to borin head setup
Also if a part needs flipping etc.

I run the old Biesse 335 I converted to mach/ galil years ago using y0 rear left. (Wrote funky post processor for it to do it this way direct from vectric) -

Besides- anyone who uses one of these machines will be used to the reverse setup-easier not to confuse.
To be fair- I only use toolpath view rarely! - so to me it doesn't matter if it displays upside down. But would be nice if it was an easy flip

I'm not saying that you shouldn't.
I work from the back pins on our Morbidelli every day.

What I'm saying is that you can write your g-code, so that you still work from the back pins, without the image being upside down.
