Modbus Beta Plugin

Postby RWC » Sun Apr 07, 2019 2:44 am

Hi.
Is the Modbus Beta plugin fully tested and functional ?
Also, is there any documentation regarding its set-up and usage ?
Is it compatible with any type of slave on a network ?
Any working examples or pertinent topics/posts ?
I have several small PLC's with RS485 and Modbus addressing that I would like to try.
Thanks,
Russ

I'm having trouble understanding the Variables Table, also called the register table ? Please explain for me, thanks. :?

And the addressing.
The PLC and drives I've used have Modbus 984 addressing, like in the pic below for the Click PLC.
Where are the associated addresses in the plugin/UCCNC ?
For instance, If I wanted PLC output Y001 (8193) to be read by the master UCCNC and operate a function ... like flood coolant ON ?

Hate to appear thick..... but I'm thick :D

once you have set up a connection- ie baud rate etc (just fill in the boxes)
use add function.
eg read single register. - and fill in the register address you want to read.
press start loops
you will get a green reading if successful / red if not in the debug view
its quite simple when you get the hang of it!

Hi Battwell, thanks for responding.
That part, I think I've got. The master reads the registers from the PLC and stores the info in the table ..... and vice-versa.
The table is what threw me.
So the UCCNC register in the picture would be variable # 64 ?
Are they numbered by column ? or row ? 64 or 37 ?

Then write custom macros do whatever you wish by accessing the appropriate registers ?

Thanks again,
Russ

Yes, the variable table is numbered like that, that one is the 64. register.
Yes, you can write macros or macroloops or plugins to read/write the tables and to do whatever you want to do with the datas.
For example you can get the value from the table and do a button call in the macro if that variable changes to some value.
Or you can read the value of a register or registers and write the data to a DRO.
