There should be writing on the cable. Exampke: 3C 18AWG CY (that would be 3core, 1mn2, shielded, with those codes).
1.5kw or less can get away with 4core 18AWG shielded.
Above 1.5kw you want 16AWG (1.5mm) shielded or thicker.

Not a clue on the connector. Looks like GX20 but is not quite a GX type.

Cheers again m8 , leaving it for today, start again tomorrow.

Should still be able to test run it without a ground wire, the issues can start when it gives off EMI noise through the wires and machine frame when installed

This might be worth flicking through :

Spindle will run from vfd it just wont run from uccnc spftware , the steppers all work from uccnc, and as far as I have checked parameters are all set for running 400hz spindle.
will try again tomorrow and if still no luck will send vfd back and get a new one.

That black and red wire on the vfd GND.
You do have it connected to the 5VO on the power output pin thats next to the analog out section yes?. Not the 5VO that is lined up in the middle of the axis outputs?.
Hard to tell.

Hi m8,
Yes wired to the 5VO on the power output, don't know what to do, rewired it all to make sure no loose connections, made sure setting are right in vfd , re-installed uccnc software and still no luck getting it to move the spindle.

You have to connect the power ground (24V0) to the digital ground of the VFD if you driving the FWD signal of the VFD from the isolated output of the AXBB-E.
This VFD seems that it does not have a separeate analog and digital GND which is not really good, because then you have to connect the 5V0 and 24V0 together to make it work.

That is a good oversight!.
Could he try this workaround below?.

Use the non isolated outputs for switching instead.
Port1-output# to FWD and the 5VO from port1 going to GND.
Then you have 2* 5VO on shared vfd GND rather than having a 5v and a 24v?.

This is why I always suggest using a relay for switching fwd!!!!!.

Relay:
24v+ to RL+, output# to RL-.
VFD fwd to RL/NC, VFD gnd to RL/com.
(ssr are usually marked something like pin 1+&2- instead of nc/com)
Fwd+,1/gnd-,2
That solves the whole problem.

You can get a simple DC ssr relay from amazon for cheap.

Or get a cheap 2 pin switch between fwd/gnd and switch it manual.

Relay looks like this:

Read previous couple of posts as well as this mate.
Try something out for me.

Leave AO1 and 5VO connected for analog.
Remove any other vfd control wiring so ALL you have are those 2 for analog.
Now put bridge wire between VFD FWD and VFD GND.

So in effect you should have permanent fwd ON via bridge and the 2 analog wires from axbb-e, THAT'S ALL.
(except for power and spindle obviously).

Now, does it run using analog voltage applied from controller?. Be careful because FWD has been permanently activated.

Did what you suggested, as soon as I turn vfd on the spindle is moving ever so slight , from uccnc it runs when I use the m3 command but if I put a program in it doesn't set the spindle speed automatically, but at least it's getting there...Bought another vfd today to see if its the problem a XSY-ATI has totally different connections than other one ...will have a good read and a look on net to get my head around it first. Cheers
