UC100 no green light

Postby Nadalxn » Sun Feb 27, 2022 5:03 am

Hello

I’m trying to restore a stepcraft that was left in the shop for years now
Plugged the parallel port and the UC100 installed the drivers and everything was ok
I tried few gcodes and it was working (UC100 is recognized as UC100 in device manger and blue and green light are on)

I came in the next day and I try plugging the UC100 back to the pc and the pc recognize that a new device is plugged in (the sound windows make when you plug a new device and it’s recognized as “usb motion control adapter” not as UC100)

No light in the UC100 not even a green led is on, I checked the connection of the port and the connection of the UC100 everything is fine, I uninstall reinstalled the drivers, updated them, reinstalled UCCNC, reinstalled the Stepcraft multi-installer and I still couldn’t get it to work

The only difference I saw is how the PC recognize the UC100 in the device manger, it was working fine when it recognized it as UC100 motion controller, but it was not working when it recognized it as “USB motion controller adapter”

I’m using win8

If the green light is off when the UC100 is plugged in the USB port and if the UC100 is still recognised in Windows that means that the USB chip of the UC100 is working, but the microcontroller is not.
In other words the UC100 is damaged.

Try a different usb cable, some cables are absolute junk.

I don’t know what was the problem I tried connecting to different pcs and nothing happened

But I plugged in the UC100 directly to a phone charger (just to see if the led will light up) and the green light came on and everything went back to normal

Thank you

Then the UC100 probably has a contact problem in the USB connector or problem with the USB cable.
