Yes, you right! For that price this BOB must has very good protection circuits and elements which allow to protect chips from damage. But....

Show me a bob with comparable features (2 ports, 24V I/O) for less money. There are none.

Which is the original point of this thread. There are no good solutions available right now, which would make something like the ISOBOB very popular.
Hundreds, if not thousands of hobbyists have no problem spending $180 for an ESS, and another $150-$200 for a 2 port breakout board.
You'd have a superior product, running on superior software.

There are two groups of CNC hobbyists.
One group that wants to spend as little as possible (the GRBL crowd).
And want that wants quality, and doesn't mind paying for it. This is not a small market.

I like that one, as it uses 3 ports. Looks like an interesting option.

I ordered the MB2 board from CNC Room in Thailand.

It's cheaper than both the C-62 and CM-106, and has more I/O than both. It won't work with the M44, so I ordered a 5LPT motherboard too.
I'll post more info when I get it and hook it up.

I finally plugged my MB2 breakout board into the UC300ETH, and played around with it a little bit. This is an awesome breakout board. I had all 3 ports plugged in and working. Lots of 24V I/O, and some nice features. Now I just need to make an interface plate to mount the UC300ETH onto the MB2.
Since both the MB2 and UC300ETH both supply 5V on pin 26, I cut the wire for pin 26 in the ribbon cables just in case.

I went to the link and it says it is for Mach. So can I assume you were using Mach and not UCCNC?

No, I was using it with UCCNC. It's just a breakout board, so software doesn't matter.
It's designed for the ESS and Mach3, but works fine with ports 1, 2, and 3 of the UC300.

I finally got around to mount the UC300ETH to the MB2 breakout board. Now I just need to make some short ribbon cables.
