Acceleration & Velocity Settings

On the X, Y & Z axis tabs, how do you figure out what acceleration and velocity values to enter for your machine? Is there an easy way to get that or magic values to enter?

With a stepper machine, it's usually done by trial and error.
Start with a low acceleration setting, and gradually increase the velocity until the motor stalls. Then back it off by 20%-50%, depending on how adventurous you are.

Then start increasing the acceleration until it stalls again, then again, back off by 20%-50%.

Thanks Gerry,

I think I have mine set way to high. I got ahold of some axis setup screenshots yesterday from another UCCNC user. His velocity & acceleration settings are dramatically lower than mine. I’m thinking that’s what causing jerky movements on my runs. I’m dedicating today to experimenting.

what is the machine, what does it do?

how big is the bed / table?

what do you intend to cut (material), with what (bit size, amperage. motor size)

plasma, mill, router, steel, aluminium, wood, plastic???
