a try cut feature

Postby Battwell » Fri Apr 22, 2022 6:21 am

i have been playing with a different control.
it has a very nice feature.

load code. select try cut.
press start... nothing happens.

rotate the mpg wheel anti clockwise and the code will start and step through at the speed the mpg is turned. (all motion speed is at mpg rotation speed)
so the first few lines of execution can be controlled slowly without having to turn the feed rate down.
no more plunging through the table or hitting clamps on the way to the first cut.

press try cut button again and code is run automatically as normal from the current position in the code.

this can be re selected at any point in the code and it will pause motion and wait for you to move the mpg again to step through code.

It sounds like a nice feature. I think we could implement this relatively easily with reading the MPG rotation speed and adjusting the FRO value based on that.

As somebody that does almost all one off parts this would be pretty cool. I usually run the first part of the code at like 5% until I see things are working, then start ramping up the feed.

And should the MPG rotation override all motions including G0 rapids?

This is on the todo list, both the try cut feature and the MPG direction selection and also the 2nd MPG is on the list.
These will be hopefully in the next next release, because the next release will be out soon and we did not implement these yet.
