Probing macro for 2D digitizing?

Postby retrosmith » Mon Sep 09, 2019 7:47 am

I'm needing to copy several different shapes in 2D only, and I've not had the best luck with the transfer from a scan to various software for tracing.

What I'd like to do is to secure the piece on the table of my CNC router with double-sided tape and have the machine record the shape with a touch probe in the X and Y axes. Maybe define a rectangle of space around the part and have it probe inward at specific intervals to record the shape the same way a bed-of-nails map is made in Z.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how best to accomplish this? Bear in mind I have no experience at all with programming, so writing my own macro is not likely.

Thanks for any help!
